Youth Camp: Zambian Style
By on November 19, 2008

Last month, we assisted a ministry in Zambia by sending Dave and Kelly to run a three-day youth camp for their youth group of about 65 kids. They planned all the games and activities and taught five sessions on the topic of perseverance. Kelly shares:
“Although Dave and I have both been involved in running youth camps for years now, this one had some unexpected challenges and rewards! It was really fun to experience the many cultural differences between Basotho and Zambian youth. Dave had a blast arranging all the games and activities in a campsite with almost no facilities or electricity, and I loved speaking God’s truth to the youth of the church – without the need for a translator!
“Again and again the kids sought us out to ask questions and tell us how much God was teaching and challenging them. There was a buzz in the air as God was pouring out His Spirit, wisdom, and direction for the kids at every turn! One thing is for sure—the youth of the church returned passionate for their purpose and ready to meet the challenge of fulfilling it.”

Thats exactly what it means to do mission work. It is to be with the people, in whatever state they are in.
Mission is not only to be in luxury, sometimes even in the unexpected places, you have to preach the gospel.
Be thankyul for very moment you come across, it challenges the gospel you preach if you only want to be in easy to go places.

we always say that your mission field is right between your own two feet. sometimes it’s easier than others, but every moment is one you can use to reach out to others with the love of Christ. thanks for that reminder!
