The only real way to curb the spread of HIV is through abstinence and faithfulness in marriage. We teach this message through our public school AIDS prevention program, youth camps, discipleship classes, and leadership training events, believing that it is the only way to save this generation from dying of AIDS.
We combine the message of abstinence with one of purpose, letting them know that God has a plan and destiny for their lives. Once they grab hold of the idea that God has a purpose for them, they have motivation to abstain and avoid contracting HIV.
Only when a new generation rises up, willing to set aside harmful and immoral cultural traditions and embrace a Godly and moral lifestyle, will we see the AIDS pandemic turn around.
Nelson Mandela agrees that what is needed is strong and moral leadership. In a speech in July, 2004, he said:
“Finally, I must draw your attention to the strong leadership that is required NOW to turn the tide of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. And I speak not only of political leaders, but also of leaders from every sector of society.”
As we train up next generation leaders to live and lead according to God’s Word, we will curb the AIDS pandemic and shape the destiny of Southern Africa.
