Each September, Thrive Africa hosts Family Days—an opportunity for you to visit your family member who’s participating in our Twenty4Seven internship.

We know the sacrifices an entire family makes for someone to be involved in an extended internship, so we’d like to offer you a chance to spend 1-2 weeks here in South Africa with your child.

Ministry Opportunities

While you’re here, you’ll spend time serving alongside your intern, have the chance to sit in on a few of their classes, and travel with them to Qwa Qwa for the LaunchPad classes they teach. You’ll get to love on the children at the Hope House orphanage and assist with work projects in the offices and around the mission base. You’ll also engage in relationship evangelism with your family member and their fellow interns.

Safari

At the end of your visit (2-week option only), you’ll join Niel and Alece, other parents, and your intern for an overnight safari! This will be a great time to experience one of South Africa’s finest game reserves that’s home to an abundance of animals including the “Big 5”: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. It’s also a great time for quality one-on-one time for you and your intern.

The cost of your safari is built into the 2-week trip cost, and there will be an additional cost of $220 for your child to join you.

Trip Costs and Dates

Family Days prices for September 2009 are as follows. These costs cover all meals, accommodation, and transportation once in South Africa. Your airfare to South Africa is not included.

• One-week trip: September 20-28 - $200 per person
• Two-week trip: September 20-October 5 - $575 per person (includes your safari) plus $220 for your intern to join you on safari

Who can come on the trip?
Family Days is open to parents, siblings, and grandparents only.

How do I go about getting my plane ticket?
We have a special arrangement with our travel agent to provide airfare for you at the most reasonable cost possible. We’ll help with ticket purchasing so that all those coming for Family Days arrive on the same flight. We’ll correspond with our travel agent to get you the best deal possible, and then you’ll book the ticket directly with them. We’ll look into itineraries and exact prices as the date of the trip draws closer, but an estimate is $2000 per person.

When do I have to have all of my money paid by?
Full payment for your trip will be due by July 15th so that arrangements can be made in time.
